Our New ALT, Karlo!

8月より新しいALTのKarlo先生が毎週月曜日に来ています。
さっそく紹介します。

Interviewer: Hello, Karlo.  Nice to meet you.  We'd like to introduce you on our home page.  I hear you just graduaged from university.  What was your major?

Karlo: Yes I did. I majored in two subjects: English literature and History

I: So why did you decide to be an ALT in Japan?

K: I have always loved to travel, and Japan was a place I have always wanted to visit. Japan enjoys a great reputation for friendly people, delicious food and a rich history and culture. Having the opportunity to live here, and not just visit, was something I had to take.

I: I see.  Please tell me a little more about yourself.

K: I have always wanted to be a teacher. This is why I was interested in coming here. It seemed like a great way to add some experience in my life, and to become a better person by overcoming challenges. But more importantly, I want to continue to be a learner. I always want to learn more about people and their stories, culture and experiences.

I: You seem to have a lot to do.  I hope your attitude will give good influences to our students.   Now, this is the last question.  What do you want to do in Japan?

K: I want to see as much of Japan as possible. I also want to travel to other countries near Japan. But most importantly, I want to be good at my job. I can do that by being approachable and easy to talk to, both for teachers and students, because I want them to learn about me, and English, and the world beyond Japan, but I also want to learn about Japan and about them. Being open to, and participating in cultural exchange during my life in Japan is my ultimate goal.

I: Thank you, Karlo.  I hope you will fully enjoy your stay in Japan.
